How to Play 4D in Singapore

1. What is 4D?

4D (Four Digits) is a lottery game where you pick a 4-digit number from 0000 to 9999 and win if your number matches one of the officially drawn numbers.

Each bet line costs a minimum of S$1. You can place multiple bet units to scale payouts proportionally.

The game is popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and parts of Southeast Asia, with draw schedules and prize structures varying by operator.

2. Picking your number

• Self Pick: You choose the 4-digit number. Players often use birthdays, vehicle plates, or numbers from dreams.

• Quick Pick / Lucky Pick: The terminal generates a random number for you. Useful when you have no preference.

• Roll: Fix 3 digits and leave 1 open (e.g. 12X3). The system creates 10 lines for each value of X.

• System Entry: Pick 4 digits, but all permutations of those digits count as winners (also known as iBox/Permutation).

3. Bet types: Big vs Small

This is the most important choice you make before buying a ticket.

• Big: Wide coverage — you win if your number matches any of 23 prize categories (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 10 Special, 10 Consolation). Lower payouts but higher odds of winning.

• Small: Narrow coverage — only top 3 prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd) but higher payouts (roughly 2.5x more than Big for 1st prize).

• Most casual players choose Big for regular wins; serious players choose Small when they have strong conviction about a number.

4. Typical prize structure (Big)

Approximate payouts for a S$1 Big bet (Magnum / Toto / DMC):

CategoryPayout (per S$1)Numbers drawn
1st PrizeS$2,5001
2nd PrizeS$1,0001
3rd PrizeS$5001
Special (10)S$18010
Consolation (10)S$6010

5. Draw schedule

Malaysia & Singapore: Regular draws every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday around 7 PM local time. Special draws occasionally fall on Tuesday.

Special Draws happen a few times each year on Tuesdays to mark particular events. Operators announce dates in advance.

You must buy tickets before 6:55 PM on draw day to avoid sales closure.

6. iBox — Permutation (important!)

iBox lets you win when ANY permutation of your number is drawn. Example: an iBox on "1234" wins if 1234, 1243, 2134, 4321, etc. is drawn.

Payouts are divided by the number of unique permutations:

• 4 different digits (e.g. 1234): 24 permutations, payout ÷ 24. • One pair of repeating digits (e.g. 1123): 12 permutations, payout ÷ 12. • Two pairs (e.g. 1122): 6 permutations, payout ÷ 6. • Three same digits (e.g. 1112): 4 permutations, payout ÷ 4.

iBox is suited when you're unsure of the exact digit order.

7. Experienced-player tips

• Set a fixed monthly budget and never exceed it. • Track which numbers you've played to avoid accidental duplication. • Use "cold number" statistics to diversify picks, not to predict. • 4D is fundamentally a game of chance — no system guarantees winning. • If you feel compelled to play more than planned, stop and seek help.
